High-speed steel sheet is thin flat product for laminated tooling, wear strips and small blanks. We supply M2, M35 and M42, annealed, in sheets or coils.
What Is High-Speed Steel Sheet?
High-speed steel sheet is cold-rolled to thin gauge and supplied annealed so it can be blanked into laminated tools, wear strips and small cutter blanks. It carries the red-hardness of HSS into thin, repeated-use tooling.
We keep M2, M35 and M42 as sheet, with coils available for continuous laminating or blanking.
High-Speed Steel Grades Available as Sheet
These high-speed grades are available as sheet:
| Grade | Standard | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| M2 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | General turning, milling and drilling tools |
| M35 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | Cobalt grade for harder cutting |
| M42 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | Max red-hardness, aerospace & hard alloys |
Size Range and Tolerances
Sheet ranges from 0.5 mm up to 6 mm. Size and tolerance are confirmed per grade:
| Thickness | Width | Length | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 – 2 mm | ≤ 400 mm | ≤ 1000 mm | Annealed |
| 2 – 4 mm | ≤ 600 mm | ≤ 1500 mm | Annealed |
| 4 – 6 mm | ≤ 600 mm | ≤ 1500 mm | Annealed |
| Coils | ≤ 400 mm | on request | Annealed |
Surface Finish and Delivery Condition
Sheet delivery conditions:
Soft thin sheet for blanking.
Thicker sheet for heavier tools.
Ground sheet for close-tolerance laminations.
Surface-milled to remove decarburisation.
Standards We Supply To
| Standard | Scope |
|---|---|
| ASTM A600 | High-speed tool steels |

Applications of High-Speed Steel Sheet
Thin HSS sheet stacked into tool bodies.
Thin hardened sheet as wear faces.
Sheet blanked into small cutter bodies.
Thin sheet for precision cutters.
Accurately sized HSS sheet.
Thin plate for small saws.
Quality Control and Mill Certificates
Every Sheet order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate covering heat chemical analysis and the mechanical and dimensional checks on record. We add, on request: ultrasonic or magnetic-particle inspection, hardness mapping, straightness and flatness checks, decarburisation or surface-depth checks, and third-party inspection (SGS / BV) at the mill or before loading. Dimensions are verified to the relevant EN / ASTM / JIS standard or your drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply HSS in coils?
Yes, annealed coil for laminating and blanking.
What is the thinnest HSS sheet?
From 0.5 mm, with tighter tolerance on request.
Which grade for laminated tools?
M2 for general laminations; M35/M42 for harder duty.
Is the sheet annealed?
Annealed as standard for clean blanking.
Do you stock M42 sheet?
Yes — M42 sheet for the hardest-edged thin tools.
