Tool steel sheet is thin flat product for blanking, fine-blanking, press tools and wear plates. We supply A2, D2, H13, O1, M2, DC53 and S7, cold-rolled and annealed, in sheets or coils.
What Is Tool Steel Sheet?
Tool steel sheet is cold-rolled to thin gauge and supplied annealed so it can be blanked into press-tool components, laminations and wear plates without cracking. Thin tool steel is the economical route to many small, repeated stamping and forming tools.
We keep the common tool grades as sheet — A2, D2, H13, O1, M2, DC53 and S7 — and supply coils where continuous blanking is used.
Tool Steel Grades Available as Sheet
These tool-steel grades are available as sheet:
| Grade | Standard | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| A2 | ASTM A681, EN ISO 4957 | Cold-work punches, dies, blades |
| D2 | ASTM A681, EN ISO 4957 | Long-life cutting and forming tools |
| H13 | ASTM A681, EN ISO 4957 | Aluminium & hot-work dies, extrusion |
| O1 | ASTM A681 | Oil-hardening precise tools and gauges |
| M2 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | General high-speed cutting tools |
| DC53 | JIS G4404, EN ISO 4957 | High-toughness cold-work dies |
| S7 | ASTM A681 | Shock-resisting tools, hot shearing |
Size Range and Tolerances
Sheet ranges from 0.5 mm up to 10 mm. Size and tolerance are confirmed per grade:
| Thickness | Width | Length | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 – 3 mm | ≤ 1250 mm | ≤ 2500 mm | Annealed / Cold-rolled |
| 3 – 6 mm | ≤ 1500 mm | ≤ 3000 mm | Annealed / Hot-rolled |
| 6 – 10 mm | ≤ 1500 mm | ≤ 3000 mm | Annealed / Hot-rolled |
| Coils | ≤ 1250 mm | on request | Annealed |
Surface Finish and Delivery Condition
Sheet delivery conditions:
Soft thin sheet for blanking and forming.
Thicker sheet for heavier press tools.
Surface-milled sheet to remove decarburisation.
Ground sheet for close-tolerance laminations.

Applications of Tool Steel Sheet
High-precision blanked tool components.
Sheet blanked into punch and die plates.
Thin hardened sheet as wear faces.
Sheet laminated into die sets.
Thin sheet for stacked tool cores.
Accurately sized tool sheet.
Quality Control and Mill Certificates
Every Sheet order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate covering heat chemical analysis and the mechanical and dimensional checks on record. We add, on request: ultrasonic or magnetic-particle inspection, hardness mapping, straightness and flatness checks, decarburisation or surface-depth checks, and third-party inspection (SGS / BV) at the mill or before loading. Dimensions are verified to the relevant EN / ASTM / JIS standard or your drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply tool steel in coils?
Yes, annealed coil is available for continuous blanking lines.
Which grade for a fine-blanking tool?
A2 or DC53 for fine blanking; D2 where wear dominates.
Is the sheet annealed?
Annealed as standard so it blanks cleanly before hardening.
What is the thinnest tool-steel sheet?
From 0.5 mm, with tighter tolerance on request.
Do you stock H13 and S7 sheet?
Yes — H13 for hot-work sheet tools, S7 for shock-resisting tooling.
