High-speed steel strip is cold-rolled flat product for circular and band saws, knife edges and small cutting tools. We supply M2, M35 and M42, annealed or pre-hardened, in coils.
What Is High-Speed Steel Strip?
High-speed steel strip is cold-rolled to tight thickness and supplied annealed for blanking or pre-hardened for directly assembled cutting edges. It brings the red-hardness of HSS to saws, knife edges and small cutters.
We keep M2, M35 and M42 as strip, with slit-edge options for blanking tools.
High-Speed Steel Grades Available as Strip
These high-speed grades are available as strip:
| Grade | Standard | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| M2 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | General turning, milling and drilling tools |
| M35 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | Cobalt grade for harder cutting |
| M42 | ASTM A600, EN ISO 4957 | Max red-hardness, aerospace & hard alloys |
Size Range and Tolerances
Strip is rolled from 0.1 mm up to 5 mm. Tolerance tightens for thinner stock:
| Thickness | Width | Thickness Tol. | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.1 – 0.5 mm | ≤ 200 mm | ± 0.01 mm | Annealed / Pre-h |
| 0.5 – 2 mm | ≤ 250 mm | ± 0.02 mm | Annealed / Pre-h |
| 2 – 5 mm | ≤ 250 mm | ± 0.03 mm | Annealed / Pre-h |

Applications of High-Speed Steel Strip
The main HSS strip use — saw edges.
Pre-hardened strip for blades.
Strip blanked into miniature cutters.
Thin HSS strip as wear faces.
Strip stacked into tool cores.
Accurately sized HSS strip.
Quality Control and Mill Certificates
Every Strip order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate covering heat chemical analysis and the mechanical and dimensional checks on record. We add, on request: ultrasonic or magnetic-particle inspection, hardness mapping, straightness and flatness checks, decarburisation or surface-depth checks, and third-party inspection (SGS / BV) at the mill or before loading. Dimensions are verified to the relevant EN / ASTM / JIS standard or your drawing.
